Overall Personality: Tess LaCoyle is the Oncoming Storm. She's positively charged and combat ready! All the time! In triplicate! In caps! She is energy personified, cheerful and gregarious, physically boisterous, and useless at most intellectual actions. She doodles in class when she should study, doodles when she should do homework, and is only alive in PE classes, the dueling ring and away from the dreary books. She’s always got a kind word for a friend, and you’re a friend (even if you are a nerd or bookworm) until you cross a clear line. Bully someone, cheat, lie blatantly, or order her around and see where it gets you. If you’re lucky, good, or tough, nowhere. If you aren’t, then probably the school infirmary.

Aura type: Offensive!
Aura Color: RED!
Semblance: Negative Ions - Buff Semblance, increases STR by 2.
Item 1: Shock and Awe, Dual Induction Revolver Tonfa (DIRT). These are a matching set with a locked melee function. She built them herself at her previous school But isn't finished with the more complex parts. Currently, they can be stored as a set of dark grey armbands around her biceps, and 'drawn' as if using dual shoulder holsters. To augment their regular cartridge usage, they have a socket inside the grip area that can hold crystal dust, each 'charging' of the weapons counts as a Dust use, and after five such uses, both the crystals crumble into useless sand. She currently lacks the skill to use Lightning Dust, so the socket is empty. She can also electrify the shots with her Aura, but this is much more fatiguing. Their alternate melee mode will transform them into electrified metal tonfa that fire a normal or Dust bullet when he hits someone.
Item 2: Circuit Breaker - this simple talisman is a protective ward, giving her 1 Armor against Dust attacks. She wears it as a pair of cross-like earrings. When its protection is used, the damage is channeled to ground via her Aura in a visible electric arc that starts at the necklace. She can't use this arcing for offense, it's simply the safest way to bleed off the excess energy.
History and Sample
- History:
- Tess LaCoyle is a boisterous girl of only 18, though she seems a bit older. She grew up in Vecerne, a coastal village on the eastern edge of the island. As a young girl, she found herself pushing her limits all the time, proving to be a robustly healthy, athletic and precocious child. She was a bit pigheaded and stubborn, though, and never ran short of mischief to get into even in her small village.
After one of these unfortunate instances, Tess refused to go in the water. She was showing off her prodigious strength trying to lift one of the fishing boats, but she misjudged the weight and was knocked off the dock and into the water, where she got tangled in rigging. She struggled, but her amazing strength was useless without some sort of leverage. Worse, the fishermen had to wait because the stress triggered her aura, causing electrical arcing into the water. Only after she passed out were they able to recover her from the water and revive her.
She survived, but refused to swim or use a bath, and barely tolerated taking showers. It’s one of those things she doesn’t talk about, but fortunately it hasn’t come up much.
As she grew older, she received a decent education, and used her prodigious strength and toughness to receive basic hunter school training. As her final project in her local school, she used an old pattern based on a weapon she’d seen on display in the museum. Her weapon project became a matching set of top-break revolvers capable of holding 6 dust-cartridge shots each, and linked to a Schnee Type 2 compact crystal electrical generator that filled the curved revolver grip area. She build in a capacitor and short circuiting system that routed the charge to the projectiles in the cylinder, but the system was unsubtle, fussy, and only worked with electrical Dust crystals. Worse, it burned them out far faster than normal – crystals can normally last for months but her system could exhaust a crystal in seconds if the revolver was speed loaded. Also, changing the crystals requires removing one of the grip panels, shaking out the sandy residue of the previous crystal, inserting a new one, and replacing the grip panel, Even Tess, who designed the system, thinks it's inelegant. Finally, Tess isn’t that well-suited to the use of lightning Dust yet. She lacks the experience and mental focus (just don’t say that to her face). The weapon design includes a melee mode where each revolver is flipped ovr , barrel down. Parts realign to turn the revolvers into metal tonfa. This mode isn't combat ready.
When a formal hunter academy started on the island, Tess was thrilled. Now she could get proper training, she could do so without having to fly over or worse yet ride a ship on the hated ocean.

- “There – did you see it?”
Tess LaCoyle was on the hunt. Pointing out a large, wide, clawed track in the trail, she smirked. She strode in the direction the single track indicated, whilst the elderly man she was talking to scrambled to keep up, “We aren’t sure what it is, but it chased my son’s family off the land last week. And it’s come down into the valley and attacked the last two nights. We called the mainland for a hunter but…”
“But nothing. No need to worry, old-timer, I’m On The Job ™!” Tess cheerfully replied, giving her guide a pat on the back – and then helping him stand back up. “Eh, sorry – people always seem to fall over when I do that. So, when will we get to the site of the la… Oh.”
Her guide points to what’s left of a farmhouse, and a partially collapsed barn, “Farming’s hard enough on this island, now my son and daughter in law can’t harvest anything and we found their sheep. 20 head, dead as doorbells. Even got ol’ Shep the sheepdog.” The old man wiped sweat from his brow, “Can you do it? My Daughter in law got a look at the thing, it was huge.”
With a low ‘chuffing’ sound, an Ursa lopes out from behind the barn and the old man gasps. A slow smile begins to spread across Tess’s lips. With a distinct electromagnetic buzz, the bracers around her biceps detach themselves and reconfigure into paired heavy revolvers, landing in her gloved hands. As the old man looks at her in surprise, then back at the Ursa, the young woman’s grin has become almost feral.
“Now the fun begins.”
The old man ran down the mountain as a hail of gunshots rang out, their echoes rolling throughout the valley like thunder…
