The pigtailed girl wandering through the streets of Springwood would have seemed lost to most people given the confused look on her face, and in fact there was some truth to this fact as she hadn’t really spent much time in the second of the country of Bellmuse’s two main population centers. Rika hadn’t spent much time in Springwood, but the town reminded her of the one she’d visited a few times in her childhood, the one that had been somewhat near Siegfried’s homestead, though even then that was relative. As it was still more than a days walk from the homestead she had grown up on.
The weapons shop was a bit out of the way, difficult to find and didn’t appear to get as large a clientele as the one in Bellmuse, but it was also known to be more of a specialist shop than the other. The owner was apparently an older gentleman known as Hog Carston, who specialized more in ranged weapons, as well as the more exotic ones like what Rika herself used. The shop had been recommended to her by someone else and Rika had taken a brief break from her training trip to run this errand before continuing with her trying to improve her fighting style. She’d noticed that her whip just wasn’t as effective as she thought it could be.
The pigtailed girl blinked as she looked at the sign of the small shop, checking the name on her scroll again before approaching the small weapons shop. A large man stood behind the counter, many weapons ranging from guns and bows to whips and ninja stars. The man had some grey in his beard, and appeared to be in his early fifties, with the tell-tale signs of age beginning to creep through.
“I’m guessin’ you aren’t here to buy something new? What can I do for you!” The man asked boisterously, looking at the cylindrical object at Rika’s hip and likely recognizing it as some type of weapon. “ya got me ol’ man, wanted ta see if ya can make this better!” Rika said, pulling her whip off from where it was hanging and tossing it to the old man. Despite his age he caught the thing with ease, almost immediately finding the switch to release the length of the weapon a smile coming across his face as he did so.
“Well, that’s not bad, you know who made this?” He asked, giving the pigtailed faunus a look, she just shrugged in response. “well doesn’t matter, I can do a lot with this, but most’a that will take time. Don’t recognize this metal either.” The man said, a thoughtful expression. Rika grinned at the man, glad he at least seemed somewhat impressed, and that grin widened at the next comment he made. “For now, I guess I can strengthen it, draw up some ideas for the future. Got some things been wanting to try, but those’ll take time to add. Just a basic strengthening of the material for now.” The man looked down at the grinning redhead as a thought came to him…
“So…how are you going to pay for this exactly?” he asked, and she gave a sheepish look.
“Hehe ya know, was thinkin’ I could pay ya back later?” The pigtailed faunus responded. Hog sighed, rolling his eyes as he looked over the apparent huntress. “I guess you could just pay half now, work’ll take a few hours to get done. And I’ve got other work to do first.”
The pigtailed girl nodded, giving the money she did have over to pay off the first half. Agreeing to return the next day before rushing out to find a way to get the other half of the money.
