Overall Personality: Valerie has two separate personalities, the one that she is usually feeling and the one when she loses her temper. Ordinarily Valerie is a caring, and compassionate woman with a key desire to save lives and kill grimm wherever she may find them. She is calm under pressure and stays true to her training the best she can. She also acts quite motherly toward any and all teammates in the field with her, and does her best to act as an anchor to her team.
Valerie is a completely different person once her temper has been tripped. She becomes cold and remorseless, with an overbearing sense of aggression that could be seen by any onlooker. She no longer tolerates being an anchor and fits more into the role of a spear, pushing opponents and trying to gain as much ground as possible until she eventually cools down.
The fastest way to calm her is for her to see any civilian or teammate in mortal danger, as she will instantly kick into action to help them.
In any case, she does prefer to maintain a calmer atmosphere to ensure that her temper is controlled as much as possible. She enjoys tea, and wears a tan blouse with grey cargo pants for her additional magazines. She tries to appear as inconspicuous as possible despite her large wings, gauntlet, and pistol holstered at her hip.
Abilities
Aura type: Recovery
Aura Color: Golden (Normal)/ Black (Angry)
Semblance: Yin and Yang (Advanced Aura Manipulation): Valerie's semblance is all about overclocking her aura to complete what task she needs it to. She has an abundance of aura, but sometimes her temper controls how she uses it better than she can. When Valerie gets mad, it shows, as her hair and aura both turn black. her eyes turn dark purple, and her combat style and aura use shift to a more offensive stance.
Normal:
Aura Transfer: (Healing) By making contact with an individual, Valeria can loan some of her aura's healing ability to someone to rejuvenate them. Works on both aura locked/unlocked individuals. She can also focus this ability towards her own aura. (30 SP/20 HP)
Aura Shell: (Defense) Valerie can cast a shell of strong aura onto an individual to shield them from some or all damage from the next attack. This can be done from range, but only works on aura unlocked individuals. (20 SP/ 20 Damage blocked)
Angry:
Aura Corona: (Damage) Valerie sends a shockwave of aura in a 10 meter radius from herself, abruptly striking opponents. (20 SP/20 HP)
Power Boost: (Buff) Valerie infuses her weapon with her own aura causing bullets and strikes to hit harder. (+2 Buff Str/ 10 SP per post)
Item 1: Atma III Ballistic Shield: (Armor) A tall ballistic shield that allows Valerie to defend from most frontal strikes as she advances on her foes. The shield has a viewport and folds to form a gauntlet when not in combat use. Is most effective when crouched.
Item 2: Browning High-Power 9mm: (Weapon) A hard hitting 9mm sidearm to complement her shield. Comes equipped with a laser for easy hip-firing and a night sight for aiming in dark conditions.
History and Sample
- History:
- So, I suppose you know that the world of Remnant has many small towns scattered about the continents whose denizens choose not to dwell withing the safety of the kingdoms. I suppose that you also know that the greatest threat to the world of man is the creatures of grimm? This is all fairly common knowledge, but this knowledge leaves very little room for the ideas of human greed, barbarism, and general distaste for societal expectations. For all of the attempts at expansion that these small villages bless Remnant with, there are also those looking to capitalize on the vulnerabilities that come with these risks. Tribes upon tribes of thieves, cutthroats, and bandits live scattered about the landscape of Remnant, particularly in Anima. The fun thing about growing up with these kinds of people is that you gain some perspective of what life is really about, much as Valerie did. Life was and would be all about living. Like most faunus, Valerie grew up being despised for a characteristic that she never had any form of control over. She grew up ostracized and segregated from the "prim and proper" folk that were born without any animal parts in the kingdom of Mistral.
Instead, she found company among the low society of Anima who treated her like any other. Respectable only if one acted respectable. Her views changed when she left to live among these individuals, and her jaded views came into light. She took what she wanted from the same people that treated her and her kind like lowborn scum. They did their best to avoid violent confrontation, and were quite good at it. Despite this, Valerie felt as though they could get more from the towns they raided by taking less, but returning later. Without her tribes knowledge, she returned to a village they had raided in the past with some of what they had stolen in an effort to test this idea. What she found, however, was an empty ruin of death and despair. She knew that they hadn't taken enough to destroy the town, and they had not killed a single person there. It was soon apparent that the negative feelings brought on by their raiding had attracted grimm to each and every town they had ever passed through, and without the supplies that the raid had taken..... well, we all know how that story has always ended.
Valerie couldn't stand it, This was their fault, this was her fault. She couldn't bear that weight, the weight of an unspeakable number of lives ended at her hands. She fled, away to Vale to leave everything behind that reminded her of her past, a concept that to this day sickens her. She swore to never harm or steal from an innocent life again, and that she would atone for the mistakes that she had made before. Using the skills in combat and rudimentary medical experience, she applied to the experimental ERT (Emergency Response Team) program, which would train exceptional individual to protect civilians in the event of disaster, war, terrorism, or any events of the unforeseen. She learned to wield her aura exceptionally, and to use her shield and sidearm. Every day she goes further and further to forgetting her cynicism, and forgiving her past. In order to complete this new training however, she lacks the necessary credentials. She couldn't go to any major academy, as their resources would make it quite easy for them to learn who exactly she "was". Instead, she learned of a smaller academy on the island of Bellmuse, and has long since resolved to complete her training there.

- Valerie performed a half pull on the slide of her Browning for what was possibly the fifth time since she had gotten into the van with the rest of her team. She rolled her shoulders and slid the gun into the holster strapped to her thigh. There had been reports of a tsunami caused by an unnatural and unknown reason. By this point, she had learned that unnatural and unknown in the same context generally meant that the creatures of grimm were involved in some way or another. Shaking any thoughts of that for now, she looked up and around at her teammates. Generally they were quiet, but one of the things that really stuck out to her was how much more "trained" they looked compared to her. Valerie had always preferred to dress a bit more civilian, but these men and women all wore combat vests and high caliber weaponry. She was also the only faunus among them, but nevertheless she was not deterred. She sighed as the van rolled along and hung her head. Whatever loneliness she felt would be eclipsed by the feeling of atoning for her past.
