Overall Personality: When you see Onyx, you tend to see a cheerful, humorous, and sociable young man who laughs and makes too many bad jokes. On the rare occasion that you catch the other side of Onyx, you realize he's depressed, apathetic, and just a tad bit crazy.
Yep, he's bipolar. As a result people who spend lots of time with Onyx end up being confused as to what his actual personality is like. In all honesty, Onyx doesn't know either. When he's in a good mood, he thinks his depression is just a result of exhaustion, and that he'll be back to a good mood in no time. When he's in his bad moods, however, he believes his good moods are just a front that he puts on in front of his "friends."
So is he a normal kid? Or is he a depressed sociopath? That's for you to decide.
Abilities

Aura Color: Piano Black
Semblance: Portal. Onyx can teleport to any given location that he can see. If Onyx is moving during the teleportation, he retains his momentum afterwards, even if the direction he is moving in has changed. (Ex. If he is falling from the sky, he can place a portal entry on the ground and an exit going sideways, so the momentum from falling is transferred to vertical movement.)
Item 1: Hard-Light-Generator: Grand Piano
Similar to Velvet's weapon, it utilizes Hard-Light technology to render a piano wherever Onyx wants to place it. Since his Hard-Light-Generator doesn't have to change form, it's much more durable and can be used more consistently. Onyx uses the soundwaves from the piano to attack, as well as lure to sleep more simple-minded Grimm.
Item 2: Oscillation Blade
When Onyx can't use Grand Piano because he needs to be mobile, he uses Oscillation Blade. The Oscillation Blade has a black handguard with 3 white keys. It's also missing a blade. When Onyx presses one of the keys, the air along the "blade" of the sword start Oscillating, also producing a high-pitched sound. Depending on how many keys Onyx is pressing down on, the length of the sword varies from dagger to shortsword to longsword.

Ever since he was a small child, Onyx had been told by his parents of the strange and mythical tales of the Remnant of past. No, not legends of ancient Remnant, but of the life before the Great War.
Back then, the entirety of the Vytal Continent was united under one Kingdom, and the Grimm were pushed out into the far reaches. Back then, the food was bountiful; the water was sweet; the houses were magnificent, and most importantly, the artwork was simply breath-taking. Culture had reached a new high as the wealthy donated more and more into the arts.
It was back then when the Forte family name was known throughout Vytal. They were extremely talented musicians that could capture the essence of the beauty around them and amplify in performance. The Forte Family prospered as the rich showered them with gifts and luxuries.
Then came the Great War. Culture was eradicated from the land as tyrants ruled their little fiefdoms, confident in their righteousness. The Forte family was forced to fight, and for the first time ever, their instruments were converted into weapons. Wielding the once captivating music, their opponents fell under the hypnosis of the sounds. Fearing the great power of the Forte family, they were hunted down...
until almost none were left.
Onyx is one of the few remaining survivors of the Forte family. And he has sworn not to avenge his family, but to make his family name great again. Not only that, he will do it by using music as a gateway to the soul, not as a weapon.

Onyx was enjoying his daily walk in the forest along with his morning coffee when he noticed a low growl coming from behind him. As he turned he realized it was an Ursa, hungry for his blood.
Onyx looked at the Ursa lumbering towards him. He wondered for a second how can it seem so clumsy and yet move so quickly. As he was contemplating this strange phenomenon, the Ursa descended upon him and took a wide right swipe.
With a sudden WOOSH Onyx disappeared. The Ursa looked around the clearing, confused at the escape of his prey.
A buzzing sound emanated from above the Ursa. As it looked up into a blue outline of a sunny sky, it was then quickly crushed by the grand piano made of hard light.
As Onyx stepped off of the piano bench, he proceeded to finish his coffee.
