Richard Lionheart

Richard Lionheart
Richard was sat beneath one of the few tree which had retained it's lush green leaves in this late stage of Autumn. Hands clasped atop his crossed legs, he felt his ear involuntarily twitch for the third time today.

He's getting much too big for these games, he must be feeling  smug. Thinks he's got the jump on me again.

The ape in the treetops above Richard had, admittedly, surprised and even near beat Richard when they had first met in the dorm halls. Since then however, as the beast had become more and more affectionate toward the Sloth-Bear Faunus, he had gotten well.. more than a little soft. Not nearly hitting the short man with it's full ape might, nor making a fool of him with his semblance so often... only when he really deserved it.

Perhaps however, it was the case that Richard to had gotten a little soft toward his companion. Allowing himself to be dragged out of bed, bright and early, and carried off to his classes. Even if he did sleep through them upon arrival, he wasn't nearly as quick to resist this morning routine. If you asked him however he'd simply remark that he was 'Enduring his mentor's pet while he was away.' However, even now armed to the teeth with his dust and weapon hidden beneath his scarf, he had not raised a weapon nor dust to him before arming the chimp himself.

With a proud smirk the beast swung from a low branch, knees bent and primed to kick Richard's head from the left. The blow was dodged however, a simple duck from Richard was all that it took... however he had misjudged the ape's intent. Or at the very least, a back up intention to the attack.

The chimp had released his grip from the branch, soaring through the air. Richard had taken it as a sign the chimp would escape, try the attack again later, however this was not the case. The chimp hit the trunk of another tree, braced through the bending of his knees, and kicked off. Fist first he collided with the faunus, throwing him from his seated position and rolling along the ground. He came to an halt, digging his claws into the dirt before he could collide with a tree. His hat was thrown from his head but he found himself relatively unharmed, the blow had pushed him more than it had bruised him.

"As much skill as I'm sure that took, I hope you don't expect me to return the favor and go soft on you." Richard frowned, drawing his claws from the earth.

The chimp's lips grew into a smirk, left hand clenched into a fist at his waist while the right was open. Four of the apes fingers moved in a taunting, come get me, gesture.

His frown grew deeper, annoyed that the chimp wasn't taking him seriously, "How about this, if you beat me I'll let you pick out a name for yourself. If I win however I'm just going to keep calling you Ape or Chimp."

At hearing, well mostly lip reading, this the chimp's eyes grew wide. He turned his red baseball cap backward, dusted off his yellow shirt. Legs flexed within his black suit trousers and toes drummed within his black shoes. His white fur stood on end and his pitch black fists clenched.

It was only now, in truly looking at the Gorilla that Richard realized how big he'd grown. The chimp was now a good ten centimeters taller than him... perhaps he had made a mistake.

The two collided head to head, the Monkey's great fists grasped within Richard's own palms. Slowly the short man was pushed back, boots leaving the ground before him brown as they tore up grass and earth. Meanwhile the chimp wasn't even sweating, smirking, almost gloating, as he overpowered Richard. This however was not quite enough to deter the faunus man, he still felt he had a good chance of winning despite his more cowardly "Hit and Run" style tactics.

As Richard's white claws began to emerge from his fingertips the chimp pulled back, almost tugging the faunus from his feet. The monkey hadn't gone far though, rather just pulled and flipped backward; hands on the ground it pushed upward with a powerful two legged kick. Crossing his arms just in time to take the blow, Richard was none the less pushed upward and backward; soaring from the ground. Watching as the chimp rose back to facing forward, zig-zagging across the ground before him; tracking Richard's path.

Realizing this Richard scanned the area around him, unwilling to use his semblance for a sense of fairness, he knew he would have to take another path. He latched onto a branch in his flight, digging his claws into it's thick bark, before swinging from it and fleeing deeper into the forest. The monkey quickly gave chase, rather than taking the trees as it typically would it took the low road and chased on all fours. Richard couldn't help but let a smile grow, planning to slow down and drop from above when the forest grew denser... not thinking about the beasts which lay in wait within the forest.

Boarbatusk

And wait they did. Two creatures roamed the immediate woods, their tusks and snouts gored from recently killing a small animal of some kind. The two boar like Grimm heard a commotion, the pounding of someone within the trees and upon the forest floor. They did not take kindly to visitors. Nor did they take kindly to any creature other than themselves that were alive. In what could be seen as single minded in their pursuit, the pair sprinted off together towards the noise.

It did not take them long to find the targets intended, and the two boarbatusks who's appearance was incredibly similar charged at the monkey creature that ran along the ground. Being to dumb to look to the branches and investigate the other cause of noise, they instead focused solely on the one that they could see, burst out from the bushes with a sudden stampede of hooves. Ridges of armor line their backs and though their tusks may be smaller than most, they still have dangerous points to help them run through those pesky living things. They swerve slightly, one turning to attack the mammalian creature from its front right, the other going back a little to attack its back right. Neither knew or cared what it was. Only that it was alive and it needed to stop being that way.

Caught off guard by the sudden appearance of the two grimm, flanking the chimp on it's right side while his eyes had been on Richard, both of their blows made contact with the monkey; two sets of tusks gouging into the monkey's shirt. Letting out a primal scream the chimp decided it would be best to focus on the grimm in front of him rather than struggle with the grimm behind him. The chimp swung with it's powerful left arm, chimp's proportional strength are greater than that of a human; as such serious blows from a monkey tend to end poorly for the target. The closed fist blow was intended to smack the large pig's snout, but to be fair the monkey wasn't particularly accurate and it was in a surprised state. He let out one more scream, attempting to draw Richard in. Realizing how far ahead the faunus could be, the chimp knew he might have to hold the beasts off a little longer.

As such, less than a second after releasing his primal scream, he leapt high into the air; teeth grit and eyes wide. Coming down with a powerful stomp, it was aiming to crush the back of the grimm it had first targeted. Upon landing, whether it had landed the blow or not, the chimp would jump backward in order to prevent the second Grimm chasing his downward path and colliding with him just after landing.

The short man had stopped upon hearing the first scream, recognizing that running so blindly through the forest may not have been the best idea, but assumed that the chimp may have set a trap or surprise for him. By the second though Richard was on the move back, using his semblance to switch places with the furthest leaf he could in order to return to the chimp faster. Racing from branch to branch he soon arrived on a tree just above the three beast's locations.

Rather than give anything away now though Richard simply drew his weapon, hanging above in silence. He knew boarbatusks were capable of rotating in order to saw trees and the likes down, but he hoped they hadn't caught sight of him. Regardless, he knew he would dive in after understanding their movement pattern in an attempt to counter for the monkey.

Boarbatusk

The boarbatusks grunted and snorted at the monkey, rather the one that had been behind it did as it pawed the dirt of the forest. The other of the grimm gave a surprised whine as the monkey's fist glanced off the bone covering of its face. Not being particularly smart this forward boar shaped grimm did halted completely, and was immediately crumpled underneath the heavy stomp of the chimp. The legs gave way and the creature could not stand as the chimp bounced away.

The escape did not hinder the other of the two boarbatusks, as it and its twin of chaos worked together the beast seemed to grow angry when its partner was struck. Quickly it charged again, tucking into a terrifying spin of bone against dirt as it chased after the primate. It zigzagged erratically in such a chaotic way that it was hard to tell where it was going. The other half of the pair mirrored its partner, but was about two seconds behind it. They would attempt to strike at the chimp again, one after the other in their grinding attack. Neither was smart enough to notice that there was danger in the trees above.

Despite their erratic pattern one thing was obvious to Richard, the wild pigs would be going straight for his ape-partner. After all, he was the only target they had noticed. he drew an earth dust crystal and returned his weapon to it's storage area beneath his scarf; without hesitation warped himself into the slower beast's path, from above he could tell the chimp was better able to deal with the first one, switching place with a simple blade of grass on the forest floor. Thick boots on the ground he didn't hesitate, punching the ground while crushing the crystal in his fist. As the dust reached the ground a large black spike formed from stone popped up in the beast's path. Having a twenty centimeter radius at it's thickest and an angle relative to the ground of around 45 degrees; if the beast could not stop it's momentum it would be impaled.

Meanwhile, to his back, the chimp took the hit to his thick meaty chest. Feeling the spin of the bet it used it's strong legs to dig in; pushing even against Richard much to the short man's anger and dismay. The chimp's right formed into a fist, swinging wildly into the vortex in an attempt to disrupt its path and send it spiraling away. Regardless the chimp would push off the ground and Richard and leap to the left after throwing the blow; his shirt was mangled but the chimp could certainly take much more of a beating. He raised his fists, ready to doge, block and throw counter punches.

Richard, rather than jumping or running, opted to once more switch places with grass on his left; staggering a little from the loss of his monkey's support. With the remainder of the earth dust in his palm he opted to hit the ground once more; this time with an open palm. Almost like a wave on the ocean the earth bent and lashed forward; the land wave rushed toward the grimm which he had fought initially. The last of the dust gone from his hand he reequipped with his weapon, prepared to continue the fight.

Boarbatusk

Boarbatusk
Suddenly there was another flesh bag. A smaller, tinier flesh bag that appeared in between the twin boarbatusks throwing the slower one for a loop. In its hate and confusion the slower one kept on its spinning, trying to batter through the minuscule threat. It could not have expected the spike of earth to rise out of the ground to stop its movement. This boar struck the spike with a massive impact, tearing through the stone with its rotation even as red marks lined its black skin. There was not enough torque in the spinning to grind all the way through, so with a slow lurch the slower grimm stopped. This grimm turned slowly towards the small creature, only to me struck by a wave of stone and sent away deeper into the woods where it would die.

The forward boarbatusk battered into the monkey thing again, bones and spikes grinding into flesh though it could tell that the pesky things aura was getting in the way of it dying. It wanted to press forward, to strike again and turn the creature into paste and dust beneath its bone like armor. But some kind of blow struck its spinning side, sending the boarbatusk reeling away. While it was able to keep its momentum up, the grimm had no control over its direction, tearing through and felling a tree as it kept spinning. The only creature left stopped and hid in the underbrush. It did not sense or see its partner in destruction. It was hopefully hidden well enough that it would see something approach, and charge into it as soon as it came into sight.

Richard took a few steps to confirm that the Grimm had been defeated, rushing over to the shrubs and looking over the downed boar. He didn't waste any time on it, turning to face the devastation the second beast had left in it's path. Leaving a tree devastated like that, if it had kept spinning the devastation would have left the area past it in shambles as well. It had to be hiding somewhere in the undergrowth. He gestured for the chimp to come closer, it slowly approaching and crouching on all fours next to him. Richard then drew another dust crystal, rather than tier one earth however he opted to draw and use some tier two ice.

He crushed the crystal in his palm, he knew he would have to make quite a wide spread in order to damage the beast regardless of it's exact location within the bushes. Opening his hands to make a V shape; a powerful icy blizzard spilled forth; the powerful cold would do tissue damage to all it touched. it formed a large cone, five meters wide at it's end point; covering the area around the sawed down tree. With that done Richard took the remaining dust in his palms, tightened his grip. Before throwing the two halves into the air above the bushes; they expanded as they flew. This resulted in two 2 meter radius orbs formed from ice dropping on either side of the tree trunk; scouting out the beast's location had it survived.

Boarbatusk

Boarbatusk
The boarbatusk thought it was being smart by hiding. That it would be able to tell when something left the path and or otherwise entered an area that it could attack instantly. What it could not have counted on was the onslaught of ice that it received. Not many grimm could have even anticipated magic, nor could many react to the various creations that dust allowed the user to make.

The grimm was at the ready, and it sensed and saw something that should not have been. Ice frosted over the forest in front of it, and in a panic the boarbatusk had to leap to the side. It was not going to get caught in whatever that was, even if it could not have normally outrun it the being was further away from the flesh bag that one would think. But the damn tiny creature that even the boar should have been able to toss around was ready for that. Unaware and unable to move quickly enough, the second grimm was crushed underneath the solid orb of ice that appeared above it. It died without much thought, fading away into whatever they do.

Hearing the squelch of a large pig beneath a giant ball of ice, Richard waiting for the dust to quickly melt before approaching and confirming the kill. With a bit of a groan and a sigh, he was about to sit and rest were he stood... only for the chimp to jump up behind him and pin him; pushing his head hard into the dirt. Growling slightly, with his vision obscured, he was unable to switch places with any plant matter. Above him the monkey almost sound as though it was jeering, pushing Richard's head down with a little more force than it was perhaps intending. The short man growled slightly, attempting to push back... but he knew fine well he stood no chance of escaping the large ape's grip.

After a good minute of lying still the chimp finally released Richard, the short man's face was caked in mud much to the monkey's amusement. having risen he dusted himself off, frowning at the chimp. Richard had no doubt that he could defeat the monkey again, a blast of dust and a slice or two would end it... but seeing the chimp so happy he let out a sigh. Not admitting defeat as much as letting the ape win, he had researched a name regardless... even if the chimp didn't know it.

"Fine, Sanzaru, I'll give you a little credit. I let my guard down and you used it."

The chimp paused for a second, a look of extreme joy covering his face. Without hesitation the monkey pounced on Richard once more, pinning him. Dealing blows to the monkey only for him to laugh. Despite how tired he was Richard had plans for the beast, specific formations and attacks based on the philosophy he had been named after.
