Overall Personality:
Akui is a rather reserved person, but not by her first choice: it's a combination of her infamy proceeding her (and everyone's obvious initial response to avoid her) and her prior experience that you can only really trust yourself and the detriment of having 'loose ends' that would eventually need to be 'tied up' prevents her from speaking to many people. She usually only speaks when it's absolutely required, and even then she keeps it short and sweet, because she sees no point in dragging on once what needs to be said has been. She values action, and not the action of speaking, so proving yourself means much more to her than what you say you can do. If she's not doing required duties or classes for the academy, she may be at her special spot working on upgrading weapons for folks or designing them things, but more than likely she'll be in her dorm either cleaning her guns or studying or messing with her hair.
While some would say that she has a distaste for the typical 'macho man' attitude that a lot of guys put on, it's actually even more simple than that: she just hates men, period. Never has a single man outside her brother given her a reason to think good of them or care about them, and at this current state in her life nothing will. Were a persistent 'white knight' to appear into her life, there is a chance things could change, but it would be a long hard road to walk along before said 'white knight' would see any progress with her. This all changes if she's pit against a man, of course, as she relishes the opportunity to lay them out and show them who's boss.
Since she refuses to have anything to do with men outside of what is necessary, her only real communication is with other women...although she dislikes many of them too. She gets along with them okay, but it's the ones who ogle over and gossip about boys that she really can't stand, as she sees them as women who are oblivious to the power they are throwing away to the lowlife opposite gender. She does get along with women who are more mature however, and she can cooperate with any woman, but she refuses to have anything to do with men at all.
Akui in her heart knows this, but she will constantly deny it: she is a junkie, although not by her own choice...well, not really. She is addicted to an uncommon and mostly underground drug dubbed 'Everclear', and unlike most drugs, it doesn't make her hallucinate or anything of that nature. All that 'Everclear' does is in it's name: it clears everything, making one's mind a blank and empty space. Those who have adjusted to the drug can still function in everyday life quite well, what with mundane tasks and such being guided on autopilot, and Akui has developed such a tolerance that she can function perfectly...which works well, considering she's always drugged up. One might question why she uses the drug in the first place, and the best answer would be that a blank mind is one that doesn't remember, and forgetting her past keeps her going day to day when she would be chained to her dorm room otherwise. So, rather than being a walking zilch or never getting out bed, her tolerance allows her to function and the 'Everclear' keeps her mind free of the fog of her past: it's not nearly as healthy as getting over it naturally, and she's starting to require more just to manage herself, but so far it hasn't made her destructive. Not a single person outside the academy administration knows about her drug problem, as her preferred injection site is hidden by her clothing, and since she doesn't bother anyone for money or the drug as her connections outside the academy keep her afloat, they leave her alone. If it ever becomes a problem, however, they will crack down on her fast.
Akui's attitude in battle is the same as everyday life: she's calm and distant, and she actually has some natural skill when it comes to tactics and combat maneuvers. She's rather flexible and is very fast and agile, able to dodge all but instant-speed attacks. Being the string-bean of a human being that she is, she always makes sure she has distance between her and her opponent, because even the smallest hit on her can be catastrophic. Her fighting style has a bit of a trick-shot spin on it: as part of her tactics, Akui not only utilizes Dust in the form of bullets as well as powder to enhance her bullets, but she also utilizes Dust in it's crystal form by tossing or rolling it and shooting it from afar to activate it's effects. She also is fairly decent at making shots that would be somewhat impossible by using ricochets, something that has become a bit of her niche talent...even so, she claims to have changed a bullet's angle before, but no one believes her, and she has yet repeat the feat.
Akui's one personality trait that has nothing to do with her horrific past is her knack for changing her hairstyle. She does this frequently, almost daily, and it's a hobby that she thoroughly enjoys. Whether she's just styling it for the day or whether she's going through the process of dying it again, she spends minimum an hour on her hair everyday. Even though her hair changes frequently, those around her will confirm that it always ends up being spiked in some fashion, and that it is always partially pink in color.
Akui also has a rather dirty mouth, swearing frequently in causal conversation. She doesn't care how this makes anyone feel, nor should she, but it's starting to cause problems with figures of authority when combined with her ' could-care-less, so-not-interested' attitude. This attitude also gives off the idea that she is literally just a thug who is good at nothing else but being a pain...which is not true at all. Akui is highly intelligent, showing she can replicate actions with high accuracy and efficiency immediately after reading about them, with no practice. She also loves technology, and is constantly tinkering or testing something she's designed.
Akui has a rather blessed figure, one that would make many woman jealous and any straight man drool...she's even made non-straight men take a second glance before, and she still could do all that...if she showed it off. To avoid what she sees as stupid conflict and unwanted male attention, she wears baggy and non-revealing clothing, hiding the fact she is actually rocking a D-Cup and rocking a crazy nice butt along with some wicked hips for a white girl. To avoid all this, Akui doesn't use a traditional bra, but rather she wraps herself up with white self-adhering wrap to make herself look very small even if she's wearing just a t-shirt. However, she normally is wearing a very baggy hoodie that's a bit to big for her, as well as baggy pants that might also be a size too big.
Being the leader of an organization that caused massive chaos, pain and suffering for over a year to not only one city, but also a few neighboring cities tends to get you a lot of attention, especially when everything was hunky-dory before your arrival. Anyone who paid attention to any news outlets within the last year, regardless of preferred media, will know about her. There is also a chance that this could have made her some enemies, but so far she has been in the clear in that regard. She is, however, rather notorious for her attitude issues and putting men 'in-their-place' and many people like to keep their space from her.
Abilities
Aura type: Recovery
Aura Color: 'First Lights' Pink
Semblance: Polarity (Utility):
- Spoiler:
Usually referred to as Magnetism, Akui's Semblance allows her to move metal objects. This includes anything from a cell phone or laptop all the way up to a robotic suit or robot. Akui has shown to have this ability and be aware of it since she was young, being able to make small constructs from scraps and spare parts, but with practice and age she has come to understand and better use her Semblance. She also uses this ability when upgrading or cleaning her weapons or that of another, as it is strictly easier than taking them apart by hand. She also uses this ability to make certain gadgets, like grenades or flash drives, as it is simply more efficient that way.
Metal Detection: Another cool perk of this ability is the fact that she can use her aura to detect metal, like an additional sense. While it doesn't give her an exact location unless it's within a short distance from her (about ten feet), she can use this sense to track down said metal object, similar to a metal detector. She can use this for missions, maybe even helping someone find a lost weapon, or just to be a snoop. If said metal is within ten feet from her, she can pinpoint exactly where it is and what the item is: an example being someone's cell phone in their pocket. She can also differentiate between the tracked object and similar ones, for example her cell phone and someone else's.
As you can imagine, this means she can also sense when an android is nearby, and if the android is within ten feet of her she will be able to pinpoint them. This makes tracking easy, as even if the android is with a group holding their own electronics, she can pinpoint which one is the android. This special sense is also not fooled by looks or actions, so even if the android looks very human or tries to play it off, Akui will know better.
Most notably, she has used this on guns multiple times, however this ability has been shown to work on other non-gun complex weapons or items. Akui must be within line of sight to affect the desired metal object, and while she can affect the item just by looking and focusing, sometimes she holds out her hand in an effort to channel it better. This is done for heavier items or under extreme stress, but usually Akui just manipulates the bullets she fires...something one would not notice unless they were looking for it.
Akui's ability in combat can also be applied to robots and androids, and this where things make a bit more sense. She can move them and what not, and even hold them suspended...but the aura that androids possess normally resists any effects that are not quick and therefore suspending androids is nigh-impossible, but robots are entirely different.
One can tell when Akui is using her Semblance, a pink aura briefly surrounds the targeted item.
Item 1: Custom Twin Glocks
- Spoiler:
The most relatable comparison would be a pair of G31's, Akui's beloved custom Glocks go by the names of Agony and Infamy. She built them herself as improvements to the gun that got her locked away, and they are very elegant in design as well as destructive. Each Glock is built to not only hold twenty rounds, but also has a special button near the safety: this button rotates a special chamber that determines whether regular gunpowder or Dust powder is used, continuing rotation so long as the button is held, stopping it when pressure is removed. Each portion of the chamber that is reserved for Dust has a special engraving that identifies the element, with the engraving for regular gunpowder being a skull and crossbones. They are a silver metal in color, but each is designed a bit different artistically: Infamy has bags of money strapped down by chains down the top, while the sides are decor-ed with row of buildings that are falling apart and set ablaze; Agony has two-headed snakes running down the top, while the Grim Reaper watches with eyes wide and mouth mid-cackle as the souls below him burn across the sides.
When not being wielded, Agony and Infamy have a travel form: they consist as bracelets, one on either wrist, with each being a long row off bullets with a different middle piece that hooks them together...Agony's being the skull of the Grim Reaper, and Infamy's being a dollar sign. Switching from travel to action simply requires Akui to disconnect the bracelet, this action triggering their transformation, something that Akui has gotten very skilled at through practice and can be performed as a reaction. Once as guns she can transform them back by pulling what seems to be some sort of keychain attachment on the Glocks, which matches the hooking part of their bracelet form, and almost like liquid metal they will melt and flow back into bracelet form. When Akui uses her Semblance on her weapons, all the lines and crevices glow pink: This seems to bring alive not only the chains and the flames on Infamy, but also the eyes of both the snakes and the Grim Reaper on Agony. While not a weapon, she also had two more bracelets on each arm that naturally slide down once she's armed: these are not just little magazine-shaped parts for style, but are actual mags for her guns. While miniature normally, this is just a small investment that Akui has made in nanotechnology for herself, as they regain their normal size once they leave her bracelet.
Item 2: Fire Dust, Tier 1:
While Akui plans to learn how to wield all variations of Dust at some point, in both powder and crystal, the earliest one she mastered was Fire. It was functional and similar to gunpowder, and the idea of setting stuff ablaze does give her a bit of an adrenaline rush. She current has it in the form of powder, and has it split up between both Agony and Infamy's chambers.
History and Sample
- History:
- Akui has wiped all records of her past, and no one other than her knows her real name...however, Akui's tragic story is on file in the Syne Academy archives, even though she never told them anything...how they obtained this information is yet unknown.
Akui was born gifted and special, discovering her Semblance very early at the age of four years old, able to change the channel on the TV from a distance without a remote or play her gaming systems without a controller. She was also a very pretty girl, with cute brown locks and gorgeous green eyes...in fact, it would seem she had it made...until you saw her family. Her mother was fine in every regard, but unfortunately her father was not: he was a drunken bum who leached off his wife and repaid her with beatings and vile words. Akui avoided her father at every turn, mainly staying by herself when she wasn't at school, but once her brother Thomas was born shortly after her ninth birthday she spent a lot of time caring after him as her mother was very busy with her work. Thomas was also a bright little boy, but he was born with some sort of lung sickness, and he coughed an awful lot and rarely left the house...but this never bothered Akui, as she loved him more deeply than anything in the world, playing games with him and making him cute little trinkets.
Unfortunately, tragedy didn't stray from her for once Thomas turned five, her being fourteen. There was a horrible accident at the place where her mother worked, and it took her from them. There were mostly friends at the funeral, making Akui and Thomas nearly the only family there...mainly because their father hadn't shown up, as he was busy drinking with friends. Now having to provide for his family and actually having to work for a living, their father was obviously not happy. Akui remembers the day: it was stormy, so her and Thomas couldn't play outside. She had worked real hard and was able to build him a very cool toy like the one in the window he wanted.
'Look Tom-Tom, I made it for you. It's called a robot! I know it's small, but it's the best I could manage.'
'BEEP! BOOP!' came from the small toy.
'Oh wow, it lights up and makes cool noises?! This is the best! *cough cough* Thanks Sissy! Your-cough-You're the best!'
'Hehe, take it easy Tom-Tom. I'm glad that you like it though.' she admired him as he introduced the robot to the plane she had made him prior. It was shortly after that when her father arrived. She went out to meet him at the door. 'Welcome home, Papa. Was work okay?' she asked him honestly.
Today had not been his day: his request for a raise turned down, unable to buy as many drinks as he wished due to his tabs, and more than one woman turned him down tonight...but he already knew how to remedy all of that, and best of all it would be kept in the family. He snatched his daughter by the arm and started to drag her behind him.
'Papa, you're hurting my arm, let go!'
'Shut up.' he muttered as he dragged her towards his bedroom door.
'Papa, please let go, it hurts!'
'I said shut UP!'
'Papa, please, let me go-' her cry was cut short as the back of her father's hand struck across her face.
'See what happens when you don't listen, I didn't want to have to do that. Now, if you be quiet, everything will be fine.'
Stunned and shocked, Akui did nothing as her father dragged her into his bedroom and shut and locked the door. What happened afterward is best explain from Thomas's perspective: fabric ripping, the sound of his sister's terrified begging, his father yelling, more fabric ripping, more begging, what sounded like three claps, his sister crying, and then silence...the silence was broken by heavy breathing and his sister's sobs, and then there was silence again. After about an hour or so, the door opened up and his sister fell out onto the ground, the door quickly shutting again.
Akui crawled to the corner of their room, hiding in the open closest as she curled up and sobbed, trying her best to disappear. Thomas came over to her, but she backed away as he drew near.
'Sissy, are you okay?'
'Go AWAY! Don't talk to me, don't even...don't even LOOK AT ME!' she shrieked, sobbing and gasping, her head between her knees. Thomas still came over to her and hugged her as tightly as his little five-year-old body could hug her, and Akui did not stray from his arms.
The next few days were all the same: going to school, coming home early to cook and clean up the house and sit for Thomas, her father coming home and dragging her away, her emerging covered in bruises and shame, crying herself asleep in the closet as her brother held her. Days turned into weeks, and nothing changed, other than she learned that less resistance meant less pain and ended in less questions when she went to school the next day. Weeks turned into months, and Thomas's condition worsened, so Akui was forced to stay home to take care of him...but other than that, nothing changed. It wasn't until the day of her fifteenth birthday that things changed, her mother's friend caring for Thomas that day so she could go to school. She did her best to avoid the eyes of her peers, but she eventually bumped into a councilor who had wished to speak with her for some time now. After being taken into her office, all that Akui could managed was to break down in tears, but she couldn't say anything. The councilor told her to make a request for someone to go home with her and aid her in caring for her brother, but all Akui could do was leave. She left and walked home, her mind plagued with emotions, she arrived in time to help the babysitter finish dinner and help her get on her way. Her father showed up roughly and hour later, and after finishing dinner, he gave Akui a look that she knew all too well. She got up and was about to enter through the bedroom door when she stopped. Something was different, she didn't feel the same: there was no hopelessness or grief...just rebellion and angst.
'...No...'
'What did you just say?'
Akui turned around to look at her father. 'You heard, me, I said no.'
'Are you outright disobeying your father?'
'If you were actually a father, maybe I'd have a reason to obey you!' Akui was all to familiar with the pain that infected her face as his knuckles drug across, but she responded swiftly with her own fist right into his mouth. At first shock flooded her father's face, but was quickly replaced with rage just about as quickly as she found herself sailing across the room, her hand smashing into a lamp and busting the glass-woven bottom portion to pieces. Her father was right upon her, choking her, slamming her head against the floor repeatedly. It was all she could do to pour her will into the lamp nearby...and suddenly she could breathe again. Her father shrunk back in agony as the bulb had exploded and shrapnel had pierced his eyes. She then grabbed a piece of the broken base and jumped upon her father and shoved it with all her might...into his neck. Blood sprayed everywhere, and his gargling noises were that of nightmares, but after a few minutes time he fell and did not move. Covered in blood, her first thought was to command her brother not to leave the room he was in. She then dragged her father's body and hid it in the darkest part of his closet before shutting it tight and locked both the closet doors and the bedroom door. She proceeded to clean herself and the house up the best she could, but unfortunately her beautiful hair had been botched, so she cut it and addressed her wounds...which the chemicals accidentally dyed her hair pink. She retrieved her brother and told him that Papa left and couldn't help them and that she would provide from the two of them now...which she did.
Akui did chores and tasks for those around town, using the money for food and other necessities, including Thomas's medication. She often took less for herself, which gradually made it more difficult for her to accomplish her odd jobs. After a particularly hard day, she was taking her normal way home when she heard a commotion in the street. Someone was bustling past everyone, and he was aiming for her direction. He caught up to her and shoved something into her hands, told her to do whatever she wanted with it, and ran off into the alleyways. Akui looked down to see that it was a gun in her hands, and she looked up in time to see five police officers with their guns aimed at her.
'Drop the weapon and put your hands in the air, thief!'
'B-b-but I d-d-d-didn't s-s-teal any-' she stammered, backing up
'Freeze! Drop your weapon and put your hands in the AIR!'
'I-I-I c-c-an't m-mov-' she was frozen in fear, and couldn't move a muscle.
'DROP THE WEAPON NOW!' the shouting startled her and caused her to drop the weapon, and it hit the ground...without the safety on. The last thing Akui recalls was a massive amount of heat followed by immense force that crashed her body into a nearby brick wall and rendered her unconscious.
Hours passed, and once Akui awoke she witness the horrible scene of burning flesh and screaming masses. She couldn't move an inch, and the last thing she saw before she passed out was a little Faunus girl with rabbit ears, staring at her wide-eyed and unmoving...then all faded to black. She then woke up in a hospital, where she kept fading in and out up until the officers came in to take her to the station in cuffs. They questioned her, but Akui didn't speak to them, because she wasn't stupid: they was no way anything she could say would save her, and they had already decided her fate, plus there was no one who actually had her back now. She of course went to trial, and was given a lawyer, but hat good was that lawyer gonna do when the machine was dead set against her. She was painted as a cohort of the random man who dropped the bundle of joy into her lap, and that she was there as a hand-off as well as a distraction. Her crippling fear was just a ruse, and she intended to use the weapon and kill the five officers that had cornered her, no matter what her lawyer said. They even searched her house and found her father's body, using that against her as well, calling it everything from an initiation process to him 'knowing too much.' She looked like just another kid gone bad, a punk that wasn't worth her weight in mud, and that is exactly what everyone thought of her. When things started to look like they might even turn in her favor, as no one had taken the stand to prove she was even there at the time, the prosecution brought to the stand the little Faunus girl that had seen her that day. She recounted the scene exactly as she saw it, the prosecutor warping her words to make it sound worse than it was, and her testimony was clearing the nail in the coffin. Akui stared at the girl as she left the courtroom, determined to remember her face...
The morning of her sixteenth birthday, a day most girls would rejoice, Akui heard the verdict: Guilty, of six cases of second degree murder. She was in an odd spot, being technically a minor, but they had decided to charge her as an adult...which ended up in her getting sixty years to life in prison. Escorted out of court and into the pattywagon, she was taken to a notorious prison in Vacuo, and she was escorted inside and to her cell. As she passed cell after cell, she saw that there was anywhere between two and five people per cell. It wasn't long before she was tossed into her cell, and she soon noted that it wasn't her own cell, but that she was sharing it...with four men that were much older than her. Akui quickly recalled that this prison was notorious for not caring about the prisoners within: the saw them as slime, and only followed the requirement of feeding time. They followed no other rules, and while they monitored everything, they did nothing about it...and no one complained as people were tired of the 'city scum' being treated as 'royalty.' No rules meant to gender separation or guard intervention...normally this would make one fear for their life, but Akui was fresh to the prison, young, and female...and the smiles on her new cellmates faces weren't there because they were told they were getting steak for dinner...and they were definitely not keeping their distance from her.
Akui spent the night of her sixteenth birthday being treated as a combination of a ragdoll and a brand new sex toy, unable to get up off the prison floor after it was over. She sobbed until her body gave out, falling asleep covered in body fluids that were not her own.
Every day was a slight variation of the same deal: Morning ragdoll session, alone time spent in the corner, lunch time, afternoon ragdoll session, more time in the corner, dinner time, night-time ragdoll session, passing out. A month in or so into her sentence, apparently some activists of women's right pushed something through, and now not only was there 'recess' but all the women in the prison were gifted with extra 'recess' and able to take things back into their cells to do. During one of her recesses, Akui tried to make conversation with a woman named Gale, but all she could do was cry, thinking about even committing suicide to avoid years of this treatment. Gale then gave her a syringe and told her that it would take away all feeling, making her feel completely blank, and she named it 'Everclear.' She also mentioned that if she needed more, she could come see her, and that if anyone asks her tell her the doctor supplied it to her...and that she shouldn't give up just yet.
Back in her cell, just after dinner time, she saw that her cellmates were returning. Akui decided to use the syringe, and once she stuck the main vain in her arms and injected the liquid, she immediately felt her body go numb and her mind went blank. She had no thoughts and barely even knew what was going on as they dragged her down from her bunk and had their way with her. She whited out and woke up the next day on the floor, her cellmates gone...and her mind flooded with grief. She immediately went to seek Gale.
Weeks and months went by, all of which were the same as the others, up until the week before Akui's eighteen birthday. Rumors were flying about the prison being shutdown, although Akui didn't grab onto much in her haze. akui was going to see Gale to get some more 'Everclear' when she noticed she wasn't at her normal spot, and right after that was the earth-shattering explosion hit and knocked down the wall. Everyone was rushing for the new hole in the wall, and that's when she saw Gale on the other side of the wall, beckoning to her. If Akui ran now, she would still technically wouldn't be a criminal, as she never truly was one in the first place...and there was nothing but misery for her here. She dashed towards Gale, grabbed her hand, the the two took off for freedom.
Over the next few days, via hitchhiking and Gale's connections, they both ended up back in Akui's hometown. No one remembered her, and with a fresh set of clothes, they went into hiding. Gale had some loose ends to tie up, and Akui went to check up on her brother at the old house, as she assumed someone as there to take care of him...but when she arrived the house seemed to have new owners. She asked around, and eventually she learned where her brother was...shortly after she was kneeling before his tombstone, placing a replica of the robot she had made him.
'They couldn't be bothered with you while you were alive, only in your death did they even notice you, only to get you out of the way...' Akui's body trembled with fury, her fingers white as her grip on the tombstone increased. 'This entire city will suffer for what they have done to us. I swear on your grave, Tom-Tom...when I am done, this city will never be the same.' As she headed back to her hideout, she gathered the supplies needed and spent the next two days crafting what would be the first versions of her glocks, Agony and Infamy. Once they were complete, Akui noticed the Gale had yet to return to the hideout. She left and gathered information on her approximate location, and headed into a nearby abandoned warehouse where she found Gale in the process of being used by two burly men.
'Get off her and leave, now.'
'Only if you plan on taking her place, lovely.' she recognized the voice, and the face the appeared over her shoulder as she was groped from behind: it was the man who had stuck her with his crime nearly two years ago. Akui took Agony out of her pocket, turned off the safety, and aimed it around her leg and fired. Screams flew out of the mans lungs as his crotch was now replaced with a giant bloody hole, and Akui left him and pointed her gun at the men over Gale. Clearly unarmed, they backed away, begging her not to shoot them.
'This slimeball is done for, so you have two choices: follow me, or die here. If you are following me, then you'll help her up and untie her.' After a brief pause, the two men looked at each other, then aided Gale. Gale ran to her and hugged her, asking her why she even bothered. Akui simply responded by taking a syringe out of her belt pouch and telling her she owed her much more. She then turned her attention back to the two men. She requested that she be brought to the rest of what she now consider to be her followers. The men guided her there, and while surprised, the rest of the forty-either members were easily persuaded once they heard about what happened to their previous leader.
On her eighteenth birthday, Akui became a crime lord, and the weeks following proved her to be a good one. Within a month, she had either annihilated or absorbed all the rival gangs in her town and the next towns over. She had easily 15,000 men strong and had more every day, each one of them armed to the teeth with gear they were most effective with, and armor custom made by her. She stormed banks, stores, pharmacies...you name it, she had them cringing in fear and asking for her 'protection.' All her followers were loyal and respected her wishes, including the respect of females and their bodies, and the law couldn't control her...in fact, she brought the fight to them on multiple occasions, and she always came out on top. She insisted that she take part in every major event, and she always racked up the most kills and got the best spoils. After six months, the entire county was in fear of her, and they were taking steps to eradicate her and her followers...information she had gained from a rather interesting encounter.
Aiming to stomp out a fledgling rival, Akui was going on a solo run to wipe them out, when she noticed the same Faunus girl from her trial purchase some bread and head her way. Akui snatched the girl by her rabbit ears and pulled her aside, Agony pointed at her forehead. The girl trembled in fear, but she didn't squirm as she saw the tears running down Akui's face.
'Do you...have any idea...what you put me through? You saw it all...you knew it was an accident...and you knew they needed you to stick their unfair judgement...yet you still went up there on the stand? Why? What compelled you...to ruin another being's life? All you had to do...was refuse to testify. You would have been fine, you can't get in trouble for that, and then my chances of being dealt justice would have been so much higher...so why did you screw me over? WHY!' She shook the girl by the collar of her dress, and the little girl burst into tears as she responded.
'D-daddy did some bad things to get w-where he is in the c-company, so that he c-could take care of my brothers and sister and I. They threatened to let everyone know and take h-his job away! A-after Mommy was kill by a d-drunk driver, he's had to work all the time j-just to care for us all. I couldn't l-let them d-do that, M-mommy told me to t-take care of my family... The rest was just incoherent sobbing, and Akui's rage was stifled: this little girl had protected her family at the cost of someone else, something she herself understood all too well. She was just about to let her go when she heard a shout from around the corner: the rival gang decided to greet her first.
In a flash, she tossed the girl behind her and armed Infamy, both guns glowing pink. She then took aim and unloaded into the gang, knocking all ten of them down before they even got a single shot off. Akui then nodded to the girl that she could take off, and she attempted to but she tripped and fell, and that's when the eleventh member turned the corner and fired a shot at the girl. In an act of blazing speed, Akui dashed in and took the hit, wounding her shoulder. As the grunt hid back behind cover, Akui moved her arm in an arc-like fashion and fired, the bullet traveling in an arc...which turned the corner and killed the grunt.
The little girl panicked, but Akui ushered her to leave. 'Go on and get your ass out of here...and make sure to hug your brothers when you see them.' the girl nodded, than ran away swiftly after informing her of a rumor that the mayor was calling in 'special forces' to handle. Akui then headed to her hideout to recuperate.
More months passed, and Akui and her gang had fought off the tactical government deploy very well, but it was a losing battle. Rather than have all her followers die, she disbanded them and fled to a nearby library to use the local computers. By the time that the forces found her, she had already wiped all records of any crimes she had committed...and any records of anything about her at all. The brought her in, and after all the long processes, she was about to be sentences to life in prison...at the same prison she had recently escaped from. Before the sentence was given, however, and male rabbit Faunus in a fancy suit stepped up and requested to speak with her.
'A few months ago, my daughter was shopping for bread for the family, when she was held up at gunpoint by you. I know of the past you two have, yet you chose not to end her life regardless. In fact, not only did you protect her from potential gunfire from a rival gang, you also took a bullet that was aimed for her, and that bullet would have easily took her life...and then allowed her to leave unscathed Now, I care not about the situation, nor you reasonings: I only care that you saved my daughter's life. Even though you may be mostly a waste of human flesh, I believe there may in fact be some good in you, and I do believe I owe you a favor. As such, it is my recommendation that you be given an alternative with a more...positive outlook. Rather than going to prison, I think you should be sent to Syne Academy and train to become a hunter, applying your combat skills to something useful to society and being a proper citizen. Should you fail to do this or attempt to quit or leave, you will of course not be given a second chance...I hope you understand.'
She did, and since anything was better than prison, she accepted the offer. With no delay, Akui was sent to Syne Academy and accepted without any application process and few questions.

- Normally, Akui would spend time working on her weapons in her dorm, but she had decided to open up a stand to work on the weapons of others as well. It would give her something to do, and she may even make some decent Lien off of it, not to mention seeing new weapons is always intriguing. She hadn't received too many customers yet, but as she was cleaning Infamy, a young man walked up to her stand. She looked up at him as he spoke.
Can you repair my lance? The sonic impactor seems to be jammed or something, and for the life off me I can't fix it myself.' he asked, handing over his lance to her. Akui looked over it for a few seconds, before responding with 'Sure. Looking at 75 Lien.'
The young man bent over and looked her in the eyes. 'How about I pay you in service instead?' he said in a seductive manner, throwing his eyebrows up.
'...Rrright.' she muttered, then tossed his lance back at him and began to walk away.
'Aww, come on now, sweet-cheeks. No need to be so cold, how about I warm you up a bit?' she remark was followed up by slapping her on the ass. All the girls in the hallway gasped while the guys chuckled. Akui then armed Agony and turned with full force, pistol-whipping the boy right across her mouth. The boy dropped in shock, blood trickling from his lips.
'Next time, I'll blow you're f****** dick off, dips***.' she then made her way back to her dorm and sat down to re-dye her hair.
