MUSEJust like that, as Gawain began his thrusting attack straight at Soyata, believing that he was going to hit the experienced warrior for sure, Soyata quickly destroyed that thought by ducking even more than Gawain had, only giving way for the swordsman's blade to gently graze off the edge of his shoulder. Even before Gawain could retract his blade, readying himself for a follow-up attack to continue pressure, Soyata quickly rolled out of Gawain's range, only to ready his staff for a quick and damaging attack. With Gawain surprised at the sudden maneuver, a sudden switch between offense and defense was enacted; however, even as Gawain readied his sword, pointing skyward, for a block, Soyata's staff was able to reach around in one sudden motion, knocking the swordsman to the ground as if he was lifeless doll. The block was clearly unsuccessful.
The staff hit against Gawain's head harder than anything he ever felt. The pure metallic surface struck hard and true, knocking the boy out as he lied on the cold surface of the arena. Gawain was unconscious, not knowing what happened to him; Soyata continued to shout and scream, but his opponent could not hear him. Only moments after Soyata succeeded in his attack, the side of Gawain's head ended up cracking open, causing a flow of blood to fall to the ground, first lathering his right eye in an ocean of red water. Any sane person would've stopped the battle there, but as a minute passed by, nobody brave enough to interfere with Soyata, the body just lied there with no one to come to its aid. However, to the surprise of many, as time passed by, the body eventually stood on its own, refusing to yield.
How long...How long was I out for? Why...Why is my vision clouded? Placing his right hand over the his clouded eye, he took a look at the reddened hand soon after, only to guess that he was bleeding, drastically at that. After the sense of sight came back, the sense of smell returned soon after, helping Gawain notice the bloody mess that he was; the blood seeped from his head down to his clothes as he stood there, looking straight at Soyata. After sight and smell, hearing was next as his eardrums started receiving the crowd's gossip, frightening messages at that. Next came taste; his mouth was dry, he felt dehydrated as if he hadn't drunk anything in days. Finally, the sense of touch returned to Gawain's body as he could perceive the total pain his head was in. His hand went to the wound, quickly covering it even though the blood still flowed, this time across his arm. Looking around for his sword, closing the visionless eye, and absentmindedly picking it up, Gawain was ready to fight again.
Despite his pain, despite the fact that he was a bloody mess, despite the fact that Soyata proved to be a much stronger fighter than Gawain, the boy refused to yield. Pant by pant, he took his sword with both of his hands, staring down at his opponent with one restless eye, determined to give the battle his all. Everything that Soyata said, everything that leapt from that warrior's mouth, it was either true or despicable. Gawain wasn't ready to give up against someone who was ready to fight until the end, and Gawain still had much to endure to reach the end. However much of a hero or an idiot, that was his choice and he stuck with it, preparing himself for one last attack.
As his body shined with a sudden white glow, Gawain stared at Soyata with a renewed dedication shown through his cyan eyes, his left hand was raised and tossed in front of himself as seven Glyphs appeared before them, surrounding the two of them. With a leap back, gripping his sword with as much strength as he could, Gawain was ready to go down in either victory or loss.
Landing on the Glyph behind him, Gawain pushed off of it with his feet, soaring close to the ground as he made one slash against Soyata. Pushing away from the warrior, Gawain repeated the process over and over, leaping from Glyph to Glyph, striking Soyata with every chance he could get until, finally, as each Glyph was dissipated and only the two warriors stood against one another, Gawain leaped away from Soyata and then toward him, readying his sword in his right hand as he tried summoning one more Glyph to allow one more jump; however, it didn't come. Each strike before took all of his strength, all of his willpower, all of his heart and soul, and now, as he was in the air, ready to boost off an invisible platform, his body fell, fell straight to the ground, and the glow slowly disappeared. And that was the end of the battle for the two, ending with Gawain's unconscious body. At least, he was able to face a strong opponent.
