Taja Laden Kane

Amari Kane was effected, and she hid it from everyone. She was the one that had inherited the curse that would forever plague the Kane bloodline, a curse that caused ultimate death by the age of 33. She wanted to end the curse with herself, so the options of having a child was nowhere in her mind. But, at the age of 23, she found Laden Knight and could not forgot him. She soon fell deeply in love with him, his confidence and state of mind interested her, and eventually, they married. The happiness he brought made Amari forgot all about her curse. She grew pregnant and birthed a beautiful baby girl when she was 28, named Taja Laden Kane. Laden suddenly grew distant only months after Taja’s birth as finances grew tight, going off to faraway places to find work. This nonetheless led to the days he was gone at a time to increase drastically and not after long, Laden disappeared without a trace. Amari tried her best to support Taja and give her the best life she could, despite the great despair she carried with the disappearance of her true love. By the time Amari had the slightest recollection of the curse, her 33th birthday was to occur in a matter of days. Amari was working a job, looking for her lost husband and trying to give Taja the best life that time slipped away and now her birthday’s arrival was to occur in hours. Amari knew that she only had one last wish to fulfill before her time came. As soon as Taja had fallen asleep, Amari wrapped her in a blanket and basket and ran into the dark midnight. She traveled as far as her legs would take her, and stopped at a house. She stared deeply into the face of her only daughter, and dropped to her knees. She prayed with everything within her that Taja would live happily and be just like her father. Confident. The watch on her arm showed it all, time was running out. She had only a few minutes. Amari knocked on the door weakly and waited an answer. Amari waited, just as the door opened the clock struck 11:59. Amari’s heart stopped nearly seconds before her body hit the ground. Taja woke up inside the home, looking into the eyes of her new family. The only remembrance of her family that Taja has is her middle name, which she knew was in honor of her father and his confidence. Sometimes Taja feels like she can remember moments with them, yet she can never be sure. Taja grew an interest in technology as she grew up and became associated with creating things with her skills. She soon began studying the assemble of weapons, and in her studies learned of Snye Academy, the world of Grimm, and hunters and huntresses. When she turned 17, her foster parents happily allowed her to enroll at Syne.

The ground shook ever so slightly and even though she could not hear nor see the impending danger, Taja felt it. Oathkeeper and Oblivion, now placed within each hand, were inches from her face. She stared intensely at the blade that belonged to Oblivion, before slashing her sword in a diagonal swipe in front of her. The grimm in the form of a bird laid in two on the ground, before her feet. She didn't need to look up to know that there was more coming. Her hands gripped her blades tightly as bittersweet memories came of her as a young child, always hoping to become a confident person in life. The recollection steadied her hands. Knowing in her conscience that they would never fault unless she had caused them to comforted her as she drove her blades forward. She impaled a grimm through the head and tossed it from her sight. Taja crossed her swords, forming an "x" shape, blocking the giant paw that had now just nearly crushed her. She used all the strength she could muster to shove the paw off, causing the grimm to lose it's balance and soon be impaled by Oathkeeper directly where the neck met the collarbone. A soft, gentle breath passed her lips as she prepared for the fight of her life.
