Necessary to have a face claim?

I'm not an artist and I do not like putting the face of a character from another series as one of my own characters. I just wanted to know if it is necessary to have a face in order to make a character.

You do need a face claim yes, however if you don't like pulling one from a series you could find a piece of one shot art from an artist of an original character or the likes by them. This would, while giving you fewer expressions and such for your avatar image, remove the baggage of that character's original personality/history from the minds of yourself potentially and others potentially OCC ^^
