History and Sample
- History:
- His mother died during childbirth at a dingy clinic in the slums, and that was the nail in the coffin for his father, whom left Varialis with his grandfather to join in the White Fang attacks. Varialis scorn his father, but never hated the man. He understood why he did what he did, but he didn't agree with it. His grandfather had been a hunter in his youth, and never missed a chance to share his worldly wisdom with his only grandson. Varialis grew up idolizing his grandfather and the hunters, but he never forgot his mother and father. The mother whom had passed because no real hospital would offer a Faunus care, and the father that couldn't even look at his son without feeling pain. Varialis often saw the protests, as well as making a local name for himself by beating up human kids that bullied the younger Faunus. One mans hero, is another man's villain, and the humans were very unhappy with the chain of events. No Faunus should have any right to defend themselves from the machinations of man, and even less so if it involved their precious children being punished for their transgressions. Varialis had trained with his grandfather, and could hold his own in a fight, but when the humans cried wolf and tried to have him arrested, he was hopelessly outnumbered. As luck would have it, Varialis had recently turned old enough to apply to Syne. The only way to escape punishment was to leave the city behind, they knew his name and the neighborhood that he often was active in, but none of them really knew what he looked like. As much as it pained him to, he ran , his grandfather gave him Vorhut, Wächter, and his old leather jacket, and he took his father's scarf, the only keepsake he had from him. He was accepted into Syne and has told nobody about his past or why he came to Syne at all, as he knew that it would only lead those involved down a much darker path.
- RP Sample:
- Varialis sighed and took in the sea air to his lungs. Watching the sunset at the beach and been an old memory he held dear. He hoped that Syne had a westward beach nearby so that he wouldn't be deprived of such a sight. He turned and looked at the lights of the city flicking on, one by one.
"I don't know if I was born for a reason." He whispered to himself, before shutting his eyes and smiling. "But I'm sure as hell going to make one." He slung his bag over his shoulder and patted the massive shield on his back, before taking a step away from the beach and walking away from the city.
"Come on Vorhut, let's make history!" He laughed as he put a bit more bounce to his step and read the signs pointing him toward his destiny. "And maybe find a real person to talk to so I don't look so crazy."
