- SPOILER WARNING!!:
- This thread will contain spoilers for the end of RWBY season three. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
Alex took in a breath of fresh air as he sat down in front of a cafe for a lunch. Lucy was busy with a bake sale so she was with several other people so there was little chance of her getting into trouble, and Silvana was back home resting in her stable. True he could've rode her into town, but even a war horse needed to catch a break now and then. Because of these things the survivalist professor had a rare moment to relax. With a happy sigh he placed the heavy metal backpack Oblivinator on the ground next to him. He never went anywhere without it, he wasn't an idiot, but that large hunk of folding titanium was heavy so even a muscular man like him needed a break from carrying all of that weight. Picking up the menu, Alex considered what he wanted to order. Maybe a burger...
However after waiting for a whole 30 minutes the professor was starting to wonder what was taking his waiter so long. 5 minutes later he had an answer. "Sorry for the weight sir! The Vytal Festival at Beacon Academy is about to continue." the man stammered out as he pulled out a note pad and pencil. "Can't use my scroll to take your order. Watching the next bout would be too tempting." At this Alex chuckled. He remembered when he had completed in the festival. The skills of his opponents were amazing. He even almost won the finals for Beacon that year... but overconfidence caused him to lose the match at the last second. No one couldn't say he had learned his lesson. "Alright, you have a good excuse so I'll forgive you. I'll have the bombshell burger please. Medium cooked please so there's a little pink in the center. And replace the french fries with a mashed potato please. Oh, and whose supposed to be fighting in the festival next?" "Oh, that would be Petra of Beacon and Penny of Atlas. I'll be back with your burger in a moment sir." and with that the server walked off.
Alex watched him go, then looked down at the table he was sitting at. It had a small projector so he could watch some TV while eating his meal, though he had to pay extra for it since it was optional. With a shrug, Alex slid his card through the projector's payment slot, which also allowed him to pay for his meal once it was processed, and activated the projector. Making himself comfortable Alex settled in to watch the match. He would've rooted for Syne's team but the fact of the matter was that Syne wasn't participating in the festival this year. It was unfortunate, but it couldn't be helped. With the Grimm attacks directly aimed at the academy by some sort of 'beast tamers' and part of the campus being destroyed during the summer, most funding that both the academy and Bellmuse had went into repairs and bolstering defenses. Once everything was said and done, there wasn't enough money left for the academy to participate in the festival. Even then though Syne rarely competed since the formation of teams didn't happen that often at Syne, and since winning the team round was the first requirement in the tournament Syne rarely had a way to even enter the first round.
Still though, that didn't mean Alex couldn't enjoy it. As a matter of fact since he had gone to Beacon himself he found himself wanting to root Petra on. She had amazing skill for someone so young, and she had a whole lot more potential to work with as well. In truth he couldn't wait to see how the battle went. As it progressed Alex found himself on the edge of his seat the whole time. This Penny seemed to be amazingly skilled as well. He was so intent on the screen that Alex didn't realize his burger had been delivered...
Then it happened and Alex's breath got caught in his throat as his eyes went wide... Penny had launched her floating swords a long distance, Petra let lose some sort of pulse of energy that was clearly her semblance, the pulse sent Penny's blades flying backwards... and 'something' cut Penny to pieces, revealing that she was an android.
"What the hell?" was all that came out of the huntsman's mouth as he looked at the screen, which suddenly turned red with the image of a chess piece, a black queen, and woman's voice started to make accusations against Atlas and the leaders of all the academies, saying that they weren't truly on the side of the people. The screen turned back to the tournament, revealing a massive Nevermore attacking the arena, followed by a flock of griffons attacking the arena as well... and last Alex knew those things only showed up when people were truly in despair. "A nightmare..." Alex muttered as he looked at the screen and shook his head as his blood ran cold. The Grimm attack was massive, and to Alex it was clearly orchestrated... but who would do such a thing?
Hearing gasps coming from around him Alex tore his eyes away from the screen to see everyone around him reacting in horror to Penny's destruction and the Grimm attack that was currently happening at Beacon, and would most likely hit Vale as well. Everyone was so scared, horrified, and clearly hopeless...
Alex's eyes went wide in realization. Almost everyone in the city was watching the tournament, which meant they might all be reacting that way... including himself but now for a different reason. "No no no no!" Alex rambled as he dropped a stack of lien onto the table to pay for his uneaten meal. He then slung Oblivinator over his shoulder, grew a vine that latched onto a 3 story building, and quickly pulled himself up to get a better look around. Sure enough all the people he could see from this short view were reacting to what was being transmitted from the Vytal Festival, and they were all reacting in horror. Anyone who had a basic understanding of Grimm knew that the creatures were attracted to negativity... and Bellmuse's streets were now flooded with it.
Knowing what was going to happen next, Alex bolted for the boarders of the city while pulling out his scroll, and set it to transmit to every scroll that was registered to every student and staff member of Syne Academy. "Attention! This is Professor Alexander Davis! All available huntsmen and huntresses report to Bellmuse immediately! Repeat; all available huntsmen and huntresses report to Bellmuse immediately! The city is about to be struck by a massive Grimm attack!" Alex said into his scroll as he used his semblance to rush through the city via log with spinning wheels that made him go nearly 60 miles an hour.
By the time Alex reached to outer edge of the city and pulled his semblance out of the seed he was using to move faster with, he could see dark figures heading towards the city... lots of them. With a frown crossing his face, Alex drew Oblivinator from his back and transformed the weapon into it's signature dual-headed meteor hammer form. This was going to be a long battle.
