Overall Personality:
Petra is the type of person that would give a person a prank present that threw pie in their face one moment then turn around and help the very same person clean the mess off of their face. At her core she’s very caring and maternal toward others, showing a deep understanding and empathy for other peoples problems. She never claims to be smarter or wiser than others nor does she believe that she has all the answers, but she’s always available to help those in need. She has aspirations of growing up and having children of her own and being the good housewife, but in the short term she believes her need to help others and guide them is better served as a Huntress. She also sees herself as creative and witty and often goes out of her way to play spritely pranks on those who she considers friends.
Her secondary charge for becoming a huntress is the way she craves adventure and stories to tell, she pulls pranks because she sees them as miniature conquests and loves telling stories about how she pulled off her pranks. Overall Petra is pretty straight forward about everything, she keeps all her emotions on her sleeve and is very animated about what she’s feeling. This it pretty easy to tell what she’s thinking, this is usually to her chagrin when she’s planning out pranks. She fancies herself an evil genius when it comes to the art of the prank, but others can easily tell what she’s planning and take steps to stop her.

History and Sample
- History:
Second Star to the right, straight on till morning.
It wasn’t Petra’s intention to run away from home, she’d always had a good relationship with her parents. Sure her dad was angry most of the time with work and with life, but it was clear he cared for her and his family. Her mother was often tired, having to deal with taking care of a stressed out husband and four children. And none of her younger siblings were the cause of her problems either, she liked taking stress away from her parents and taking care of them. It was nothing to do with her life, rather it was the life that she was heading toward that had spooked her into abandoning all of her responsibilities at home. Petra was growing up and getting a lot more responsibilities, she had a boyfriend who she had imagined having a family of her own with one day.
Her life changed she met a group of boys, a street gang who helped her fend off a man that had been trying to mug her on her way home from school. More specifically a boy named Russell, the leader of the Lost Boys, treated her like no one else had treated her before. She had always been the good oldest daughter, the dutiful girlfriend, and the diligent student. But when this boy helped her up, he seemed to respect her, not as someone with a title but as a person, as a girl without a title. She became enamored with the way that they had helped her, she was always trying to find ways to help others and it had never crossed her mind that she could fight for others benefit.
Beyond that there was a certain romantic quality to the street gang, Petra had always wanted to write about adventures and tell stories. When she was at home she was often distracted and didn’t have many stories to tell. So part of her reason for running away became to have stories of her own to tell someday.
Running away from home, she hit the streets and joined the Lost Boys. They taught her how to fight, how to craft weapons, and use Dust. As gangs went they weren’t the worst in the city, they generally tried to help the downtrodden and keep their turf safe from those that would do people harm. But they certainly weren’t on the right side of the law either, they would get themselves in trouble for street brawls and shoplifting. Overall it was an experience that was ultimately good for toughening Petra up and garnering her a reputation as a pluckish rogue.
It wasn’t until Syne started calling out for fresh faced recruits that Petra found her true calling. She decided that she wanted to better help people, and that meant that Syne would be the perfect place for her. As a Huntress she could not only take on the various street gangs and malcontents the city had to offer, but she could take down the Grimm that had been encroaching on the city.

It had been a while since Petra had worn a school uniform, a fact that she lamented upon running her hand over the durable fabric as she folded it and put it away in her trunk to be used when classes officially started. She couldn’t remember the last time she had actually been in school, her transcript when applying for Syne had mysteriously been nothing more than a magazine when compared to the novel-esque folders the other applicants had singing their praises. Somehow though she had managed to impress the staff during the physical examinations that they had sprung on all the applicants.
Putting aside the sickening feeling that she had barely scraped by the application process, Petra tugged on her night shirt and pulled her pigtails out of her short brown hair putting the clips and bands on her bedside table. Leaning out the open window of the empty dorm room she looked to the stars with a sigh, half in appreciation of the night, half to push down all the negative thoughts that kept creeping into her mind.
“What are you doing here Rooster?”
Petra nearly jumped out of her skin, falling back on the floor on her butt as Russell vaulted in through the open window. An impressive specimen of a teenaged boy, olive skinned with bright brown eyes and a nearly permanent cocky smile. His black hair was fashioned into a faux hawk with red tips. He wore mostly black, a black shirt with a skull symbol on the front, a leather vest that had been fashioned to with white stripes sloping downward toward each other on either side of the vest. His jeans were ripped and frayed from age and overuse, and his black and red sneakers had the same look of being far past their prime, hastily repaired with safety pins and whatever color twine he had available. Hanging from a loose brown leather belt across his back was a curved cutlas, which Petra knew had a Dust channel which he preferred to channel with Ice based Dust.
“Russell! Can’t you use a door like a regular criminal? We’re on the fifth story for dust’s sake!” Petra shot up and smoothed out her night shirt, afraid that she’d be compromised by the slightly younger boy.
“Whoa there Darling, no need to get all excited, I don’t have any desire to look at your flat butt.” Russell crossed his arms. “Question still stands, what are you doing here? You belong with the Lost Boys, not with these snooty preps.”
“My butt is not flat! I just haven’t grown into it!” Petra pushed at Russel, blushing heavily, letting out a muffled scream of frustration at her friend before calming down with a couple of breaths. “I already told you this when I went to apply, and the fifty other times you asked. I wanted to do something bigger with my life. I can’t spend the rest of my life being a street level vigilante. I’m meant for so much more than that.”
“Pfft, Rooster, you don’t have to be some kinda big dumb world saving hero. The Lost Boys do plenty enough good.”
Petra dropped to the edge of her bed. “Look don’t get me wrong, I still respect what the gang does. But don’t you think it’d be better if we took down the Grimm that have been terrorizing the city rather than purse snatchers and low level thugs?”
“I’m not so sure.” Russell uncrossed his arms to push a hand through his faux hawk, but didn’t say much else on the matter. Moving back to the window and mounting a foot up on the wooden sill. “Just don’t lose who you are when you’re hanging out with these preps and wannabe heroes.”
“Right… Good night Russell.”
Crouched in the window, the Lost Boys leader turned back with a thumbs up. “Don’t lose your crow, Rooster.”
With that he lept out the window, disappearing into the embrace of the night.
